Description
Neomycin; polymyxin B; bacitracin are available in topical and ophthalmic forms to treat infections of the eyes and skin. Neomycin and polymyxin B are primarily active against gram-negative, aerobic bacteria, while bacitracin is active against gram-positive bacteria.

Hypersensivity to neomycin, polymyxin B, zinc bacitracin
Glaucoma
Viral diseases of cornea and conjunctiva (epithelial herpes simplex keratitis, vaccinia, varicella)
Mycobacterial infection of eye & fungal diseases of ocular structures
Use in eyes or over large areas of body

Warnings
Contamination of container may occur, causing bacterial keratitis; avoid contamination of product
For external use only
Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms including fungi; if superinfection occurs, appropriate measures should be initiated
Bacterial resistance may develop; if purulent discharge, inflammation, or pain becomes aggravated, patient should discontinue use and consult a physician
Allergic cross-reactions may occur which could prevent use of any or all of the following antibiotics for treatment of future infections: kanamycin, paromomycin, streptomycin, and possibly gentamicin

Maximum Dosage
8 applications/day for up to 10 days for ophthalmic ointment; 3 applications/day for up to 7 days topically.
