  • Cough/Cold, Other Combos;

Oral expectorant and sympathomimetic decongestant combination
Primarily used for the temporary relief of congestion associated with the common cold or other upper respiratory conditions
Used in adults and pediatric patients 6 years and older

Indicated for the treatment of cough and nasal congestion, including relief of eustachian tube congestion, associated with the common cold, sinusitis, or other upper respiratory conditions.

Contraindicated in documented hypersensitivity to either drug or components

Within 14 days of MAO inhibitor therapy

  • Palpitations
  • Convulsion
  • Dizziness
  • Drowsiness
  • Excitability
  • Headache
  • Tremor
  • Weakness
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting

Use caution in high blood pressure, thyroid disease

Caution in cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, prostatic hypertrophy, and increased intraocular pressure when taking pseudoephedrine

Guaifenesin is not for administration in persistent cough associated with chronic bronchitis, smoking, asthma, or accompanied by excessive secretions

Discontinue use if you experience dizziness, insomnia, nervousness, experience persistent headache, symptoms do not improve within 7 days, or occur with a fever

Pregnant or breastfeeding patients should seek advice of health professional before using OTC drugs

NOTE: Do not exceed recommended dosage limits for the specific product prescribed; the following are general guidelines:

Adults

Guaifenesin 2400 mg/day PO; pseudoephedrine 240 mg/day PO.

Geriatric

Guaifenesin 2400 mg/day PO; pseudoephedrine 240 mg/day PO.

Adolescents

Guaifenesin 2400 mg/day PO; pseudoephedrine 240 mg/day PO.

Children

12 years: Guaifenesin 2400 mg/day PO; pseudoephedrine 240 mg/day PO.
6 to 11 years: Guaifenesin 1200 mg/day PO; pseudoephedrine 120 mg/day PO.
Less than 5 years: Safety and efficacy have not been established.

Infants

Safety and efficacy have not been established.
