Ophthalmic antihistamine available as an opthalmic solution and a drug-eluting contact lens
Prevents ocular pruritus due to allergic conjunctivitis; the drug-eluting contact lens also corrects refractive ametropia (myopia and hyperopia) in aphakic or phakic patients
The drug-eluting contact lenses are contraindicated in patients with corneal infection, decreased corneal sensation, or ocular hyperemia

Indicated for ocular pruritus due to allergic conjunctivitis.

Daily disposable etafilcon A drug-eluting contact lens packaged with an H1 histamine receptor antagonist, indicated for prevention of ocular itch owing to allergic conjunctivitis and correction of refractive ametropia (myopia and hyperopia) in aphakic and/or phakic patients who do not have red eye(s), are suitable for contact lens wear, and do not have more than 1 D of astigmatism

  • Photophobia

Delay insertion of soft contact lenses for at least 10 min after ketotifen instillation, since benzalkonium chloride preservative may be absorbed by soft lenses; do not wear contact lenses if eyes red

Contact healthcare provider if symptoms worsen or do not improve within 3 days of initiating therapy

Solution should not be used if cloudy or change in color

Not for treatment of contact lens related irritation

Discontinue use, and contact healthcare provider, if experience eye pain, changes in vision, redness of the eyes, itching worsens or lasts >72 hr

Lactation: Not known if distributed in milk; use caution

Adults

2 drops per affected eye per day for ophthalmic solution; 1 lens per eye per day for drug-eluting contact lenses with ketotifen.

Geriatric

2 drops per affected eye per day for ophthalmic solution; 1 lens per eye per day for drug-eluting contact lenses with ketotifen.

Adolescents

2 drops per affected eye per day for ophthalmic solution; 1 lens per eye per day for drug-eluting contact lenses with ketotifen.

Children

11 years and older: 2 drops per affected eye per day for ophthalmic solution; 1 lens per eye per day for drug-eluting contact lenses with ketotifen.
3 to 10 years: 2 drops per affected eye per day for ophthalmic solution; safety and efficacy not established for drug-eluting contact lenses with ketotifen.
younger than 3 years: Safety and efficacy have not been established.

Infants

Neonates
