Oral derivative of testosterone.
Primarily used for hypogonadism and delayed puberty in males.

Indicated for androgen replacement therapy in male hypogonadism.

For the treatment of males with delayed puberty.
For treatment of females with inoperable breast cancer.

Severe cardiac, hepatic or renal disease, males with breast or prostate cancer, hypersensitivity

Pregnancy

  • Edema
  • Acne
  • Breast soreness
  • Priapism
  • Menstrual irregularities
  • Virilization
  • Gynecomastia
  • Suppression of clotting factors II, V, VII
  • Anaphylaxsis

Benign prostatic hypertrophy, males with delayed puberty, geriatric pts, pediatric pts

Hypercalcemia may occur in breast CA or immobilized pts

Halogenated derivative of testosterone with upto 5 times activity of methyltestosterone

Lactation: excretion in milk unknown; contraindicated

40 mg/day PO.

40 mg/day PO.

20 mg/day PO.
