Imidazole antifungal agent marketed in a variety of preparations including vaginal suppositories and cream, topical lotion and cream, topical solution, and lozenges. Used for infections due to pathogenic dermatophytes, yeasts, and Malassezia furfur including ringworm (dermatophytosis), vaginal and oral candidiasis, and tinea infections. Not indicated for subcutaneous mycoses.

Indicated for the treatment of cutaneous candidiasis.
For the treatment of oropharyngeal candidiasis (thrush).
For oropharyngeal candidiasis prophylaxis in patients immunocompromised by chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or corticosteroid therapy in the treatment of leukemia, solid tumors, or renal transplant.
For the treatment of vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC).
For the treatment of tinea corporis, tinea cruris, and tinea pedis.
For the treatment of tinea versicolor.

Hypersensitivity

Mild burning, irritation, stinging to skin or vaginal area (vaginal tabs/cream)

Abnormal LFTs reported, including abnormal aspartate aminotransferase reported; monitor LFTs periodically, especially in patients with hepatic impairment

Not for treatment of systemic fungal infections

For maximum efficacy, must dissolve dosage form in mouth
